Music at Abington presents the Abington Symphony Orchestra led by John Sall in a special fundraiser program to support Play On Philly – Marian Anderson Young Artist Program.
Join us as we welcome two guest soloists in a thrilling evening of musical collaborations with Ajibola Rivers, cello, and featuring Rhyuhn Green, an Anderson Artist, in the world premiere of his “Monarcha” concerto for piano and orchestra.
Ajibola Rivers is a Nigerian-Cherokee performing artist of many talents you may recognize from featured appearances with ARTolerance and the Philadelphia Orchestra’s “our city, your orchestra” programs. He joins the ASO for Goltermann’s Cello Concerto in G.
Rhyuhn Green, pianist and composer, is an Anderson Artist in Play on Philly’s Marian Anderson Young Artist Program, for rising musicians. John Sall and the ASO welcome Rhyuhn as composer-soloist in his Monarcha Piano Concerto No. 1 as a world premiere.
The concert is fully accessible and presented for free with all concert donations directed to support Play on Philly in its mission to provide underserved children in Philadelphia a transformative music education experience that develops and inspires the behaviors and personal skills needed for a successful life.
Free professional child care is provided during the concert as a service to our listeners.
Concert is available live or on livestream at our YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/iQboFagu31A
A reception to greet the artists follows the concert.
