From Spirits to Speakeasies: Easton, PA During Prohibition

April 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event: /events/1443472073186656/?event_time_id=1443472076519989
Join NCHGS for a walking tour of the hideouts and safe havens of organized crime, vice, and illegal indulgences of the Prohibition Era!
With a reputation that earned it the nickname “The Little Apple”, Easton became a hotbed of resistance to Prohibition. But what was it about this little city, nestled at the banks of two major rivers, that allowed it to become both a gathering place and a gateway – a city of contradictions?
Based on newspaper accounts, first-person interviews, and photos and documents from the NCHGS archives, join us to visit the sites of some of the most notorious brothels, breweries, and back-alley speakeasies in Easton’s unforgettable history.
“From Spirits to Speakeasies” is offered on the fourth Friday of the month. Tickets are $20.00 per person. Tours last approximately 2 hours. Please be advised that the walking route does include minor hills and crossing major intersections.
This tour is not recommended for children under 12 years old.
Private tours may be scheduled upon request. Please contact Sarah White, Community Engagement Coordinator, at NCHGS at 610-253-1222 or sarah@northamptonctymuseum.org.
