Live At Nevin Park – a new, free concert series

A new summer music series of free outdoor concerts is starting in Easton, with shows on the second Saturday of June, July and August in College Hill’s Nevin Park.
The season kicks off on Saturday, June 8, with performances by Moetta and the Big Easy Easton Brass. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating in the park.
Moetta, which takes its name from the era when Easton was a hotbed of speakeasies and bawdy houses. is a new Easton-based quartet featuring members of the Big Easy Easton Brass. They are Jeremy Joseph, trumpet; Art Charlton, trombone; Tj Kurczewski, keyboard; and Kevin Hudson, drums. The group performs various musical styles from New Orleans, from trad jazz and Dixieland to blues and soul.
The quartet then will be joined by Easton’s favorite Second Line krewe, the Big Easy Easton Brass. This community band has members from throughout the Lehigh Valley and western New Jersey, welcoming all ages and skill levels as they bring the Mardi Gras spirit wherever they play.
Also known as “The BEEB”, Big Easy Easton Brass is no stranger to College Hill, as the group annually leads a Second Line parade around the neighborhood as the grand finale to College Hill PorchFest each autumn.

This inaugural season of “Live From Nevin Park” features bands that all have College Hill connections, with some of their members living in that Easton neighborhood.
The series continues on Saturday, July 13, with Rio Bossa, a quartet that performs traditional Latin American, jazz, popular, and original music. Closing out the inaugural season on Saturday, August 10, is Roi and the Secret People, a high-energy, original Alt/Rock band based in the Lehigh Valley. Live At Nevin Park is a project of the organizers of College Hill PorchFest, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 29 with a rain date of Oct. 6, 2024. The event, which will be held for the sixth time this year, features more than 40 performances on some 20 porches throughout the afternoon. The website www.collegehillporchfest.org is now accepting applications from musicians who would like to play, and from homeowners who wish to volunteer their porch to serve as a PorchFest stage.
