Pysanka Egg Decorating Workshop with Patricia Burton

Just in time for Easter!
Hosted by Patricia Burton, this one-day class is for beginners interested in learning the basics of the ancient Ukrainian folk art known as Pysanky.
Pysanky is a batik (wax and dye) technique on real (empty) eggshells. We will also touch on the history and symbolism behind the patterns and colors. The class will focus on a traditional design. No experience necessary. All supplies provided — each participant will receive a small packet of supplies to bring home.
• Use pencil lines to divide the egg into sections
• Use a kistka (wax stylus) to apply hot beeswax to the egg
• Dyeing the egg
• How to remove the wax to reveal the full design.
