The Fries Rebellion Film – Screening & Behind-the-Scenes

September 28 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Event: fb://event/878768957508768
NCHGS is proud to collaborate with our Passport to History partner, the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society, to bring you a screening and behind-the-scenes look into The Fries Rebellion film, a docudrama on The Fries Rebellion of 1798-1799 as told through modern day characters.
With this film, audiences of all ages will be entertained and informed about this little-known insurrection that occurred primarily in the German-speaking populations in and surrounding the “Lehigh Hills” region of then Northampton, eastern Berks, upper Bucks, and upper Montgomery counties of Pennsylvania.
Through the juxtaposition of past and present and personal versus national interests, the film subtly addresses the ongoing search for what liberty, freedom, patriotism, loyalty, and duty mean in the United States of America.
The Fries Rebellion will be shown at 1:00PM in the John R. Austen Auditorium of the Sigal Museum, with a behind-the-scenes, short documentary immediately to follow.
Admission is free for NCHGS members, $10.00 for non-members. Registration is not required.
About the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society:
The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society was formed in 1989 to save a log house in Wescosville, PA from demolition. Since that time, this very active, all-volunteer society has expanded its mission to include educational outreach, programs, social media, and films. Learn more at http://lmthistory.org.
