The NY–born\, Montreal‑raised artist has released 11 studio albums\, 6 live albums\, and GRAMMY‑nominated Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall\, along with gold‑certified Release the Stars. He’s earned two Juno Awards\, multiple nominations\, and composed music for Stephen Petronio’s BLOOM. Collaborators include Elton John\, Burt Bacharach\, Miley Cyrus\, David Byrne\, Joni Mitchell\, Mark Ronson and Robbie Williams. A celebrated figure in classical music\, he premiered his first opera Prima Donna in 2009 and his second\, Hadrian\, in 2018. He has performed orchestrated pop and classical works with leading opera singers and major symphonies\, and composed the orchestral song cycle Five Shakespeare Sonnets for the San Francisco Symphony. \nWainwright’s achievements include the 2012 premiere of Sing Me the Songs That Say I Love You\, a documentary and concert tribute to his mother\, Kate McGarrigle.
